Los narcóticos (opioides) agentes analgésicos pueden exacerbar las convulsiones en pacientes con trastornos convulsivos y, en dosis más altas, han sido reportados para inducir convulsiones en pacientes sin historia previa de convulsiones. El proconvulsant la actividad puede ser la más grande con la meperidina, el metabolito activo de la cual se cree que es responsable. La terapia con opioides debe ser administrado con cautela en pacientes con o predisposición a las convulsiones.
