El uso selectivo de la recaptación de serotonina (Isrs) raramente se ha asociado con la hiponatremia, a veces secundaria para el desarrollo del síndrome de secreción inapropiada de hormona antidiurética (SIADH). Estos eventos han sido generalmente reversible después de la discontinuación de ISRS terapia y/o intervención médica. ISRS relacionados con la hiponatremia puede ser más común en personas de edad avanzada los pacientes de sexo femenino y aquellos que son de volumen-agotado o que reciben terapia diurética concomitante. Precaución puede estar justificada cuando ISRS terapia se administra en estos pacientes y los pacientes con historial de hiponatremia o SIADH. Séricos de electrolitos, especialmente sodio, así como el BUN y de la creatinina plasmática, deben ser controlados regularmente.
