Los diuréticos tiazídicos a disminuir la velocidad de la excreción de ácido úrico. La hiperuricemia es frecuente, pero generalmente es asintomática y rara vez se llega a la clínica de la gota, excepto en pacientes con antecedentes de gota o insuficiencia renal crónica. La terapia con diuréticos tiazídicos deben ser administrados con precaución en estos pacientes.
