Elevado ayuno de azúcar en la sangre y la disminución de la tolerancia a la glucosa, se han reportado durante la niacina y la niacinamida (nicotinamida), la terapia en dosis sustancialmente superiores a los de fisiológica de los requisitos. Los pacientes con diabetes mellitus deben ser monitoreados de cerca durante el tratamiento con estos agentes, y los ajustes realizados en consecuencia en su antidiabéticos régimen.
