El uso de la niacina y la niacinamida (nicotinamida) en dosis sustancialmente superiores a los de fisiológica de los requisitos está contraindicado en pacientes con úlcera péptica activa de la enfermedad. Estos agentes han sido reportados para activar la úlcera péptica.
