El uso de la niacina y la niacinamida (nicotinamida) está contraindicado en pacientes con hipotensión severa. Estos agentes tienen la vasodilatación periférica efectos y normalmente puede producir enrojecimiento de la piel en dosis sustancialmente superiores a los de requisitos fisiológicos (por ejemplo, de la disminución de lípidos dosis).
